Oxygen scavengers have several uses in water treatment. The most common is for corrosion protection by mitigating oxygen induced corrosion, but they can also be used as reduction agents to mitigate in-situ oxidation of metal ions. Oxygen scavengers can also be used to avoid shock boiling.
